Welcome back Dr. Will
Dr. Will has thankfully returned from her maternity leave. This means that we have returned to our regular full schedule of appointments. Thank you all for your patience during her absence.
We know that wait times sometimes were increased with one less doctor on the schedule but we are always are trying our hardest to keep wait times under control. Often circumstances occur, such as critically ill patients or emergencies, which are not completely under our control. This can lead to an increase in wait times. We believe in providing the same level of care and attention to each and every one of our patients. Each one means as much to us as your animal does to you. While we do our best to stay on schedule delays are sometimes inevitable.
Please remember that you are always free to call in prior to your appointment to make certain there will be minimal delay in beginning your appointment. Our receptionist can help you coordinate your arrival time with our schedule should there be any changes. We know your time is important and we value it as highly as you do. We all are crunched for time these days with our busy schedules. We’ll do our best to make your visit with us as efficient, timely and productive as possible.
Welcome Mud Season
Spring is always a welcome time of year, especially after some of the tough weather we had this past winter. The crocuses are finally up and unfortunately so are the ticks. We’re seeing an incredible number of deer ticks on patients that are outside right now so make sure that you’ve restarted you tick control measures on your dogs and outdoor cats. Remember that you can order refills on any medication through our website.
One of the best ways to celebrate spring is to get out and walk. After a winter with a lot of ice, many of our dog patients gained weight with reduced exercise. Now is a great time to get back on a regular schedule of exercise. It’s great for everybody. Listen to the birds sing – many migrants birds are already back. And always, always stop to smell the flowers.
Cats and Vaccinations
Great news! New studies have demonstrated that some of the vaccines we’ve normally given annually create immunity that lasts longer. If your cat is indoors only and has no exposure to stray cats, then we can increase the interval on its distemper vaccine to every three years. We still recommend that every patient be examined annually even if a vaccine is not given. Remember that a year between visits for your animal is like five years between visits for you and your doctor.
A Veterinarian’s Wish
We’ve had the following plaque hanging in our office for years for our daily review. It was presented to us by a former employee as a remembrance of all we did for her animals. We thought it would be wonderful to share its deep thoughts with all of you. It really sums up how every day is for us.
